The quick checklist

Every receipt needs to show:

• The store name, usually at the top

• The purchase date, within the last 7 days

• Every item you bought, from the first line to the last

• Clear, readable text, with nothing blurry, dark, folded, or cut off

If you paid with EBT and want to earn store rewards, your receipt also needs to show:

• The amount you paid with EBT (SNAP or EBT Cash)

• The last 4 digits of your EBT card, matching the card linked in Forage

Store rewards vs. item rewards

The rules are a little different depending on what you're earning.

One receipt can earn both. When you add your receipt, Forage asks Which items did you buy? Pick the activated items on that receipt so we know what to look for.

If your receipt doesn't show an EBT amount or your card's last 4 digits, it can't earn store rewards. The items you picked still get checked for item rewards. If you didn't pick any items, the receipt won't be approved.

How to take a clear photo

1. Lay the receipt flat on a table or counter.

2. Find good light. Avoid shadows and glare.

3. Hold your phone straight above the receipt, not at an angle.

4. Step back until the whole receipt fits in the frame, top to bottom.

5. Check the photo before you submit. If you can't read every line, retake it.

A smaller receipt that fits in one photo is better than a close-up that cuts off the top or bottom.

Long receipt? Record a video

If your receipt is too long for one photo, choose Long receipt on the camera screen.

• Start at the top and move your phone down slowly to the bottom.

• Keep the whole width of the receipt in frame.

• Record it all in one video. Videos can be up to 20 seconds.

• If you see Slow down, move your phone more slowly.

Videos only earn store rewards. If you're also earning item rewards, take a photo instead. Long receipt video is in beta, so if a valid video receipt gets rejected, contact Forage Support.

Shopped online? Here's what to do

Online orders can earn rewards too. How you get them depends on the store.

• Forage Partner stores: No receipt needed. Rewards on online orders are added automatically.

• Walmart and Amazon: Link your store account. It's easier than uploading receipts, and your purchases are checked automatically. See How do I link my store account?

• Any other store: Upload your digital receipt or order invoice. It needs everything in the checklist above.

Some digital receipts don't show your EBT card's last 4 digits. Without them, the receipt can't earn store rewards, but activated items you picked can still earn item rewards.

Uploading a file

You can upload a receipt you already have instead of taking a new photo.

• Photo library: PNG, JPEG, or HEIC

• Browse files: PDF, PNG, JPEG, or HEIC

• Files must be under 10 MB.

What we can't accept

These can't earn rewards:

• Bank or EBT statements

• Transaction summaries

• Photos of your EBT card

• Edited or AI-generated images

• A receipt that's already been added, by you or anyone else

• A receipt older than 7 days

Never photograph your full EBT card or card number. Your receipt only needs to show the last 4 digits, and most receipts print it that way already.

If your receipt is rejected

Check the Activity tab first. Tap the receipt to see why it wasn't approved. Then see Why was my receipt rejected? for what each reason means and how to fix it.

If you can fix the problem, like a blurry or cut-off photo, add the receipt again within 7 days of your purchase.
