Why is my reward capped at $0.50?

A $0.50 cap applies to all receipt and account-linked rewards. Plus, more ways to earn.

Starting September 17, 2026, rewards you earn by adding a receipt or through a linked store account are capped at $0.50 per purchase. Forage Partner store rewards and item offers are not capped. Through October 17, 2026 select Forage Partners—DoorDash, Uber, Gopuff—have an increased 5% reward rate. 100+ item rewards are coming to the app within the next week.

What the cap means

You still earn your normal rate on the full purchase. The reward for that purchase just stops growing once it hits $0.50.

  • Spend $20 with EBT and earn 1%: your reward is $0.20, the same as before.

  • Spend $50 or more: your reward is $0.50.

What the cap applies to

  • Rewards from receipts you add

  • Rewards from purchases on a Walmart or Amazon account you linked

What is not capped

Forage Partner rewards. When Forage processes your EBT payment at a partner store, you earn the full rate on the whole purchase, with no $0.50 limit. Partner stores include Family Dollar, Dollar General, Save A Lot, Winn-Dixie, Acme, CVS, Gopuff, and more. Tap any store card in the app and look for the "Forage Partner" badge. See What are Forage Partners?

Item offers. Rewards on specific products are separate from the $0.50 cap and stack on top of it. There are 100+ item offers on everyday groceries coming to the app within the next week, with over $350 in available rewards and more added often. See How do I earn rewards on items?

Rewards already in your balance. Nothing you have already earned changes.

Where you can still earn more than $0.50

  • Earn 5% at Gopuff, Uber Eats, and DoorDash through October 15. These are uncapped, so a $60 order earns $3.00, not $0.50.

  • Shop at a Forage Partner store. Pay with your linked EBT card and the reward is added automatically. No receipt, no cap, usually 2% back or more.

  • Add item offers to your cart. They pay on top of whatever the purchase itself earns.

Why we made this change

Forage pays for rewards earned outside our partner network out of our own pocket, and we could not keep funding them at the old level. The cap lets us keep paying a reward on those purchases instead of dropping them.

Partner rewards are funded by the partner store, which is why they stay uncapped.

How you will see it in the app

Open a receipt in the Activity tab. A capped reward shows "1% back, capped at $0.50 per receipt" along with what the reward would have been without the cap.
