My EBT card is linked to another account

Here's what this means and how to get it fixed

Each EBT card can only be linked to one Forage account at a time. If you're seeing this error, this card is already linked to another account, even if that's confusing given your situation.

Why this happens

This error usually shows up because:

  • You got a new phone number and created a new account instead of updating your existing one

  • You have access to another account where this card is linked

  • Someone else (usually a family member) added this card to their Forage account, or you added someone else's card to yours

If you can still get into the other account

Sign in there, unlink the card in Settings, then add it to your new account. Steps are in Linking your EBT card.

If you still have access to the phone number on that account, you can also just change the phone number on it instead. That keeps your card and your rewards together in one account, so nothing gets left behind.

If you can't get into the other account

This is the most common case. If you lost access to your old phone number, you can't receive the verification code to sign in, which is why most people end up creating a new account and hitting this error.

Contact Forage Support from your new account. Include:

  • The phone number the old account used, if you remember it

  • The last 4 digits of your EBT card

  • Whether you've shared this card with someone else

We'll look into it and let you know what's needed to resolve it. Most requests resolve within 24 to 48 hours. Cases that need extra review can take up to 4 business days.

When we can't track down the old account

Our support team can only see the last 4 digits of your card, not the full number. If nothing matches the phone number or last 4 digits you give us, we may not be able to find the old account, which means we can't resolve it. Reach out anyway. We'll check what we can.

Still need help?

Contact Forage Support from within the app. Include the last 4 digits of your EBT card and the phone number you believe the old account used, so we can start looking right away.
