Forage works with both in-store shopping and online grocery orders, depending on where you shop.

How Forage works

Forage connects to your state’s EBT system so you can view your balance and earn rewards when you shop. We don’t issue benefits and we don’t control when or how much you receive—that’s always handled by your state.

When you use Forage:

1. You link your EBT card securely in the app

2. You shop with your EBT card, either at partner stores or anywhere EBT is accepted

3. You earn cash back automatically or by uploading a receipt, depending on the store

Everything you do in the app is visible in the Activity tab, so you can always see what’s happening.

Security and privacy come first

We’re intentional about protecting your information. Forage is built with the same security standards used by banks and major payment platforms.

Here’s what that means in practice:

• Forage uses end-to-end, bank-level encryption to protect your data

• Your EBT PIN is never stored by Forage

• Forage doesn't ask for your SSN

• We only access your balance when you explicitly request it in the app

Forage is also a USDA-approved third-party payment platform for online EBT, which means we meet strict federal requirements for security, data handling, and compliance.
